Here, offers her Top 10 Eyebrow Tips exclusively for you:
- Get a professional brow make-over. If only once in your life so you can see for yourself the difference a thorough shaping can make. Learn what style best suits you.
- Lighten up. It is often far more flattering to go a shade lighter than to fill in or tint brows too dark. Not many faces can carry a very deep brow. Colouring brows too dark can be ageing and look hard.
- Once you have the brow shape you love, tend to them, even if it's for a few minutes every 4 - 5 days. This will better maintain the shape and ensure they don't become far too overgrown to recognise the line that has been established. It is often the case that brows are left to become so overgrown that we end up taking far too much away - with disastrous results.
- Pick up a good cream-to-powder brow filler. Don't fall into the trap of using cheap pencils or mascara to fill in brows as they almost always look very unnatural and obvious.
- Arm yourself with the right tools: stainless steel tweezers and a good brow brush. Make sure the tweezers are either angled (for easy use) or pointed, which enables the removal of very new regrowth.
- If you just can't bear the pain of waxing or tweezing, pick up some teething gel from your local chemist and apply it prior, to help numb the area.
- Be extremely careful with home bleaching kits. Many can render the brows very brittle, even to the point that the hair can snap and colour can often turn gingery if the mix is not right.
- Think carefully before trimming brows. Because trimmed hairs LOOK like they've been trimmed - so do so in moderation. Trimming blunts the end of the hair and makes it appear even thicker and coarser than it really is. Often those hairs can actually be removed altogether to create a softer yet defined brow.
- If you are setting off to have your brows professionally shaped - have a very clear and precise idea of what you want to achieve out of the visit. Take a picture with you. Your idea of thick or thin may be quite different to that of your therapist's.
- If you are fair-haired and have opted to deepen the colour of your brows, always have a lash tint as well so that you don't have the blonde base of your lashes showing through your mascara.
